Recently it was announced that Chrome is bringing a native lazy-loading attribute to v75. I was pretty excited about this, mostly because I felt it was way overdue. I started doing some exploring and seeing how I could use it.
The smart usage
You can achieve native lazy loading by adding the
loading="lazy" attribute to your
<img> tags. It’s pretty simple and I would suggest running your site through WebPageTest to see how much of an impact it has.
The loading attribute also has some other values you can use: eager and auto.
It’s nothing groundbreaking but it’s fun.
